Nine to twelve months babies
Babies are more mobile now now - they are pulling themselves up,
crawling or beginning to walk. They may be starting to get interested
in playthings that help with their mobility and toys that they can move among themselves.
Their fingers are more dextrous and they can manipulate smaller objects than they could before.
Your baby will know that that if the toy has fallen it will be somewhere on the floor,
and he or she will be interested in finding 'hidden' objects.
Toys to consider:
• if you baby is mobile simple push-along toys such as chunky, easy-to-hold vehicles
• balls
• push-along baby walker
• toys your baby can play with in the bath - including items such as plastic cups as well as manufactured toys designed for the bath.
"Buy some balls. They have been a constant plaything for all three of
my boys from as soon as they could reach out and pat one, to learning to kick and catch, to
playing proper football" - Stacia, mother of Sebastian, 2, George, 5 and Daniel, 8
